Iceland

I was looking through my images from my last trip to Iceland and I found this one. It is one of my favourite images from that trip.

As a landscape photographer I generally plan really well about where I want to be and at what time I want to be there, calculating where the sun will be etc.

But this was not one of those occasions, as ii was driving on route 1 I came across this waterfall and the beautiful escarpment behind it. I took a number of images but this was the best.

It is a really well balanced image, good fore, middle and background, The escarpment itself is the leading line that draws your eye into the image. The left hand side of the image with the clouds balances the right hand side of the image perfectly.

I had gone to Iceland looking for snow in November, unfortunately it was late arriving so I did not capture many snowy images, but i did mange to capture the glorious colours of late Autumn.
