Cambios

For me, being a photographer enables me to do a few things. It gets me out into the open air, and into places I have never been before. No matter what is going on in the rest of my life it enables me to focus on something else, even if it is only for a short space of time.

Take this image as an example, I have never been to the beach at Cambois before, but I had heard that there was a rig just off shore and wanted to see if I could capture it.

When I got there the tide was in and the beach was submerged, the light started to go, so I opted for a long exposure knowing I wanted to make this a black and white image. I have used a 10 stop neutral density filter which means that even in day light I can make long exposure images, This was 81 seconds long, which flattens the sea and sky.

I was out for less than 1 hour in total ... but I think it was worth it.

I now have to go back ... when the tide is out and see the difference
