This view gives a good idea of just how much steam is moving across the landscape. The image cannot convey the smell, this is sulphorous country and the smell of rotten eggs is ever present here.

Signs indicate that the temperature of the water is between 80 and 100F, these signs warn you not to put your hands in the water or they will be scalded. We were sensible ..... some were not
