St Cuthberts Cave

Legend has it that the monks carried the body of St Cuthbert around Northumberland for 7 years before ending up near to Chester -Le - Street.

This is a cave where they stopped on their journey.

It is an amazing place, surrounded by tall pine tress, it gives it an amphitheatre feel, focusing your eyes on the cave.

This outcrop of stone is sandstone and the cave is supported by one pillar.

Its a good place to visit and think back on history, but would I want to live there ...? I doubt it
